What is the main difference between the keto diet and the carnivore diet?
So what’s the main difference between the keto diet and the paleo diet then?
Well, both diets allow proteins and fats. While the carnivore diet almost completely eliminating carbohydrates, Keto allows around 5 grams per day.
The carnivore takes it a step further and is considered to be more restrictive in their way of eating compared to the keto diet.
The keto diet contains a large number of healthy fats like butter and animal fats and some green vegetables and non-animal fats like nuts, coconut oil and avocados.
The main reason for the ketogenic way of eating is to focus on a high intake of fats and a moderate amount of protein. All this to aim for the goal is to using ketones as a source of energy instead of carbohydrates.
Well, unlike the keto diet there are zero macronutrient ratio preferences in the carnivore diet. Although you can reach ketosis in this type of diet.
Whereas a keto diet recommends, 20-30% protein, 60 – 70% fats and 5-10% carbs — the carnivore diet has zero macro ratio requirements — sticking it to only eating animal products is the priority of this way of eating.
Some dairy foods are not permitted on the ketogenic diet because of the higher carb content, it’s permissible on the carnivore diet as long as it’s derived from animal sources.
